AAR: Airsoft 3/27/2010

Last night, it was a bit quieter than my past visits to 556. There weren't many of us playing, but it sure was fun. In my opinion, the arena setup was at its best so far. It was very even; neither side was better than the other. The fighting was close and brutal. It had that "room clearing" feel that often comes to mind when you think of CQB. It was extremely epic.

The highlight of my evening followed the killing of my teammate, Alex, by Lt. It was a 4v3 match. It was just me and Alex left, with the entire enemy team remaining. I sprayed Lt. with AEG fire, got him, and retreated. Then the Juggernaut ran at me, shooting. I hip-fired some rounds in his direction. He calls out. Just then, the solo in Slayer's Raining Blood began. Adrenaline pumping, I sprinted towards the center of the arena. While checking corners for the final enemy, my hand slipped and I accidentally knocked my magazine right out of my AEG! Afraid I would get annihilated if I spent the time to pick it up, I kept going. Suddenly, I see an enemy figure heading in my direction. He called, "Friendly!" I did not respond very peacefully. Bang kill with no mag, victory. I call it mostly dumb luck for me, but it was still incredibly fun.

Another interesting kill was when I took out my own father! He was behind a small wall of boxes about four feet tall, covering his teammates. I crawled about fifteen feet towards the wall, undetected. I stood up, pressed my AEG's muzzle to his MP5K, and said,"Bang!" He protested a little, but he called it.

It was also fun when we charged across the arena to our deaths, guns blazing, to the Dropkick Murphys' Shipping Up to Boston. Gallivanting around during the techno remix of Grieg's In the Hall of the Mountain King was pretty crazy as well.

Last night was the most fun I've had playing in a long time. Hell, frantically checking rooms and corners for the final enemy during Raining Blood was probably the most epic moment of my airsoft career. Thanks, guys!
